February Fun

Harry had a nice visit with Aunt Sue and Maggie.

Harry and Dad at their Saturday swim class. After every class Harry gives this report: "Swim with Daddy. Face water. Play kids."

Elliot and Samantha were in town, so everyone came over to play. Here, Harry notices that Ben is reading Alice and Elliot a book. He quickly devises a plan to get in on it.

Harry squirms his way in for a prime seat, front and center between the girls.

Harry seems to have noticed that Alice is older and wiser, so during one visit, he decides that Alice must obviously know how to read books to him. Here he removes the book she is reading to make way for the Lightning McQueen book he wants to read. Then he tries to sit in her lap, not realizing he is almost as big as her.

He scores his spot and directs Alice to "read book."

Harry discovers Columbus

We recently took a trip to Columbus to visit Grammy, and took a swing through the Children's Museum there.

Harry made friends in the treehouse with another little boy named Truman. That's right, Harry and Truman.

Harry didn't quite get the concept of the miniature room and tried to force the ceiling out of the way with his head.

Grammy gives the dance challenge a try.

Finally, a game Rob can't win...(Readers, please let me know if you've ever played a game with Rob that he HASN'T won.)

Taking a spin on the dance floor

And like every great place in Harry's eyes, it had lots of cars and trucks!

The World According to Harry

Harry likes to identify people he knows in his books, which makes for some pretty fun comparisons. Baby James is everywhere. I thought I'd share some others...

Here's cartoon "Pa." I guess it's the mustache?

Georgia...Hmmm, I kinda see it.

Alice (or more like "Ayice")...Obviously you see the resemblance with the curly hair, right?

Sam...a little blurry, but he's the blue one...this one I get...The next one, not so much...

"Frank & Nicki"
I can only think that it's because Frank wears glasses? and often has Nicki with him when we see them? But Frank & Nicki, don't feel too bad, because look at "Mommy"...

He also calls a self-portrait by Frida Kahlo, who sports some super eyebrows, "Mommy." :)

Caught!

We put this gate up in the hall one day to keep Harry from getting into trouble while we did some stuff around the house. We left a slight gap at the bottom so the cats could get through, but Mr. Harry Houdini quickly discovered he could slip through as well.

Busted

Sing a song

Sometimes when Harry wakes up, we can hear him singing over the monitor. In fact, he's taken to singing songs quite often. He's written his own song to the tune of "Elmo's song" that involves lines about dump trucks, Mommy, Daddy and Georgia. Here he does his own rendition of a Wiggleworms favorite "I'm Very Tall..."

Christmas

Daddy and Uncle Aaron set up the train table on Christmas Eve.

Beforehand, Harry shows Baby James how to "gobble. gobble" like a turkey.
Smiles from a red-headed baby James.

Every present Harry opened, he immediately said: "I hold it" and wanted it unwrapped. However, getting each toy out of the box often required several adults and multiple tools. WHY do they package them like that?

The excellent train table Grandpa Bob made Harry for Christmas.

Christmas morning!

December!

Daddy's shadow directs the placement of the Christmas tree.

With the tree finally up, it's obviously time for a Christmas dance!

Harry has been lining up his trains and cars on any table or surface he can find. We think he's going to be very pleased with the train table Grandpa made him for Christmas.

This picture perfectly captures Harry at the moment -- He always has a car or truck in each hand. And if he doesn't, he is asking "Where red car go?"

Racing Georgia up the slide at the indoor playground.

Sometimes, Harry just needs some "me" time. He'll close the door, sit in his chair with his "Elmo ni-ni" and rock. Once recharged, he's ready to play. "I play trains more!" is a common refrain in our house. He doesn't know it yet, but his New Year's resolution is going to be the ditching of the "ni-ni." (pacifier) It lives in his crib so he only uses it when he sleeps or is sick, but I fear it's going to be tough. He so loves it.
